COUNTY History Day: BOO!

8 05 2009

Hello friends… I have NOT been blogging for a VERY LONG time… :D Sorry for those of you who used to be fans of my blog :P . ANYWAY, a lot has passed.

FIRST of all, History day @ County… @#$##@$!!!!!!!!! (no, I’m not really saying that, it’s just that I can’t find any words to express my anger… how about: flippinblubberschnappindusselsupercalitripleflippinprofanipeter?) This is what happened. I went to the county contest, and when they judged me, they asked, “Do you have a process paper?”. My response: an immediate “D’OH!! DARNIT! AGHHHHH!” I FoRgOt cOMPLETELY about it! Well, after the judging, which went really well not counting that “one” part, I asked one of the teachers from my school who came to the county contest (Mr. Demayo). He said that I shouldn’t worry about it. Well, you know what? He was terribly WRONG. It turns out that the project that won was also from my school, but it was THIRD PLACE in the school contest. And I Did not, i repeat Did Not, win anything! and, the project that did win wasn’t CHANGED AT ALL FROM THE SCHOOL CONTEST! I spent the ENTIRE saturday preceding the contest (from 12 pm to 11 pm) working on mine! and it was Really GOod! boohoo.. I asked my history teacher (who also came) about how I lost. He also thinks it was because i didn’t have my process paper. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s the bibliography, a few questions answered about my project, and how I did my project. Just cuz i didn’t have my process paper! I feel so sorry for myself, sorry for myself, so so sorry for myself, sorry for myself. agh. but i’ve gotten over it. Besides, from friends that did make it to the state contest (would you believe it – all of the girls from our school won, all the guys – me and another guy – didn’t!), I’ve heard the state contest was tough competition. Mine probably wouldn’t have stood a chance. IDK. Well, at least I won the school contest. Good enough, right?

p.s. The next few posts will consist of old stuff that happened a couple of weeks ago, but just for conservation of the length of each post, I don’t want to include them all in here.

History Day: YAY!!!

17 02 2009

I WON THE HISTORY DAY CONTEST!!! YAYA!!! This was the first time I actually tried, and the first time I won. I’ve said that countless times. YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY! Here’s a picture of my history day project and me with it (from here)

That means more work for the county contest. Yughhh… I think it should be worth it, anyway. :D

Science Fair

16 11 2008

This year’s science fair will hopefully be better than all my last ones. I hope I’ll win an award this year. Last year, I did “Volley!: The effect of a projectile’s weight on its range” and got into the Finalist section in the school contest. It also made it to the Synopsys county fair but again–no prizes. In sixth grade-same thing as last year, no awards, nothing (but I did make it to Synopsys and Finalist also). This year, I’m working with a partner for the first time in my life. Bah. So far I think I would have been better off alone, at least for the machining/creation of materials/experimentation part. My partner’s really good at designing the board, so I’ll let her do all or most of that. We’re doing the Effect of a Wind turbine’s Blade Shape on the amount of voltage generated. It’s coming along quite well as for now. I’m creating the blades out of sheet aluminum provided by my dad’s friend who works at a machining shop. They look dangerouussss… especially the scythe shaped one. Hahaha lollicopter. Anyways, I’m confident in making it to Finalist section again this year, and hopefully win an award. After all, my partner’s won an award twice in a row already! I have good hopes. :D

Schoolzzzz….

26 09 2008

I haven’t written in my blog for sooo long. I apologize to my viewers for any boredom because of this :D . School’s been going on and eating my time lately. Weekends have been busy, and sometimes I’ve just been tired and lethargic (in English: Lazy).

I joined cross-country this year, so at least I finally get to do some exercise and athletic stuff a bit. We run about 2 some miles each practice and a bit more on meets. I got faster, but still not fast enough (at least to the coach). So I’m trying. I found cross-country to be one of my only athletic strengths besides hockey and badminton.

I’m in Video Ed for the first trimester (and then back to choir! Whoohoo! although I WILL miss video ed, it’ so fun) and I got a really cool movie made, sorta funny, didn’t have enough time to fully complete it but it’s still good:

Comment and tell me what you think… lol::

School’s OUT!

19 06 2008

SCHOOL is OUT! YEEEAH! I plan on having a GREEEAAT (hopefully) summer. Still, I have to go to some retreats and stuff that my parents have to go to, but THAT won’t be much of a problem, since most of the retreats have something fun about them anyway :) . Hopefully, I’ll be able to finish all my projects I’ve started but haven’t finished, for example— the bow i was making (still have to tiller it), the zappers and lasers, blah blah blah… Man, seventh grade was awesome, though. It was totally different from 6th grade, a lot more fun and field trips (like the advanced music groups going to Disneyland, Boardwalk Beach in Santa Cruz for the seventh grade students, as well as a whole bunch more).
I look forward to eighth grade, partly because I’ll get to be at the top of the “food chain” at school… MWAHAHAHAHA (don’t worry, I won’t be too mean to the lower grades)! Of course, I’ll probably get more homework, but oh well… that’s school, right? Well, that’s all for now. I’ll definitely be posting about different vacations during the summer…

School Spelling Bee

20 12 2007

A couple days ago, my class had a spelling bee, which (if you won it) would lead to the school spelling bee, then the district one, then the regional, then state, then national. I got through the first and second rounds without any problems. Most of the people dropped out already. It was down to three- me, and two others. We went on to spell some other words (for me- memorabilia, exuberant, barricade, some others) until the 13th round (much farther than my teacher’s eighth grade classes went to).

On my turn in the 14th round, the word synopsis was given. Somehow, my tongue slipped (maybe because I was speaking too fast), and I spelled it synopis. ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you already said a letter, you can’t change it. I knew I missed it, and my teacher knew I knew it but I messed it. Grrrrr. After that, one of my other friends messed up too. The final one, a girl, won the class bee. Man, I am so angry. I was third in the spelling bee. Synopsys is actually a science project company. I was a finalist in the school science fair, but I didn’t win any awards. I guess I was too confident or something during the spelling bee on that word and I messed up. The letters got jumbled up in my head.

I recently found out that a champion speller in another class didn’t want to participate in the school bee, so I hope I can switch with him!!! :)
